Chabane’s death: a wake-up call for the state or just another statistic?

    As we mourn Chabane, let us also remember that he is far from the only person to be killed on South African roads by high speed, drunk driving, or a combination of the two.

    More than 1,000 people die each month in road accidents in South Africa. Will Chabane’s death be the catalyst that gets our country to clean up its driving habits, or will we dry our eyes and continue with our lives – until the next time?
