    The Gauteng education department has kicked off its Big Switch On project with seven schools in Tembisa receiving tablets loaded with textbooks and educational programmes. “We are officially burying the chalkboard,” said provincial education minister Panyaza Lesufi. But many questions about the R17-billion project remain unanswered – not least of them whether South Africa’s connectivity infrastructure and electricity supply are up to the task.
